Dresses for Special Occasions

Dress (sold out) I linked a similar one below

It’s that time of year again down south!

I have been so excited for this holiday for a while now. Mardi Gras in Mobile, Alabama is such a fun time whether you’re catching beads on the parade route or getting all dressed up for the balls.

Fun Fact: Mardi Gras actually originated in Mobile, Alabama not New Orleans, Louisiana. Although many people believe the latter

This year I will be attending three different Mardi Gras balls, so finding the perfect dresses is all that I have on my mind lately. The way Mardi Gras works is like a secret society or organization. There are over 50 Mardi Gras societies in Mobile, Alabama that each make their own floats for the parades and throw elaborate balls during the month of February leading up to Fat Tuesday.

You can check out a list of balls and Mardi Gras societies/crews here.

With each ball you attend there are dress code rules. Mardi Gras ball dresses require woman to wear to floor length dresses and heels while men must wear coat and tails. It’s a tradition that has been around for a long time now and it makes the night seem like you’re in a fairy tale. It is so exciting to get all dressed up and go to a Mardi Gras ball, I can’t wait!

However, I know not all of you live in the south where Mardi Gras exists haha. So I rounded up a list of not just dresses appropriate for Mardi Gras but also for prom, attending a wedding and any other special occasions you might have coming up soon.

I rounded up some of my favorite dresses under $200, most of them are actually under $100! I wish I could be them all haha.

I hope you find that perfect dress for your special occasion! As always, if you ever need any help I would be more than happy to lend a hand. Leave a reply in the comment section below.
